A plain-language summary of what data BikeAtlas collects, why, and the choices you have.
Working draft, pending legal review
This page is a working draft provided as a starting point and is pending legal review. It describes the data handling we can observe in the product today. Please confirm the final wording with the site owner before relying on it.
BikeAtlas is a free cycling platform. Most of the site, including the interactive tools, works without an account and without sending your data to us. We only receive data when you choose to subscribe to the newsletter, send a message through the contact form, or allow optional analytics. This page explains each case.
If you subscribe to the newsletter, we store the email address you provide together with your chosen language and topics. Subscriptions use double opt-in: we send a confirmation link and only activate the subscription after you confirm it. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw at any time.
When you use the contact form, the name, email address and message you enter are sent to us by email so we can reply. We use this information only to respond to your enquiry.
Essential cookies and browser local storage keep the site working, remembering your language, theme and cookie-consent choice. This information stays on your device. Your consent choice is stored under a local storage key named ba_cookie_consent and you can reset it by clearing your browser storage.
Analytics are off until you consent. If you accept analytics in the cookie banner, we collect anonymized usage data such as page views, session duration, approximate geographic region, device type and browser. You can change or withdraw this choice at any time through the Cookie Settings link in the footer.
Web fonts and icon libraries may load from content delivery networks. We do not use advertising or social media tracking pixels. Analytics processing only happens after you consent.
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, decline or withdraw analytics consent through Cookie Settings, and clear your browser storage to reset your preferences. To ask about the data we hold from your newsletter subscription or contact message, get in touch using the email below.
